Joining the UNESCO MIL Alliance

Young AI Leaders Austria was officially confirmed as a member of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance—connecting the Linz hub’s AI literacy work to a global network spanning more than 100 countries.

What happened

While public debate often jumps to autonomous agents, many participants in literacy workshops still ask basic questions: Is this video real? Can I trust what an AI tells me? The gap is literacy, not access. An Informatica study with Deloitte across the US, UK/EU, and APAC found that while 69% of organisations have embedded GenAI, 74% of the workforce lack AI literacy to use it responsibly.

Why it matters

UNESCO MIL Alliance membership links local workshops in Linz to international policy and practice on media and information literacy—reinforcing that responsible AI use is a civic skill, not only a technical one.
